More CO

Well, a bit of Llama drama in the CO RO SG, we'll probably be disbanding and reforming with a different leadership more in line with mainline RO philosophy. Ah, growing pains.

My character, Artillery MKII is now 14. He finished the desert storylines and has moved on to Canada with a few stops in Millenium City. I need to do a little more exploring in the City.

I figured out how to slot my passive defense and have become a LOT tougher. Frankly I'm really enjoying the game. I'd love to see more instanced missions as many of the open world mishes become less than fully immersive when players are competing to defeat the same bad guys or getting the same glowie. (I have problems imagining Daredevil waiting for a respawn after Captain America beat up a bad guy . . .)

I'm also really enjoying seeing the villains from the old P&P Champions RPG brought to animated life.

CO: Custom Frameworks

I started a new character last night, utilizing the custom framework to start. I used the hero template for even stats and I'm using the Gadgeteering and Power Armor power sets. This lets me concentrate on three stats: Int/End for gadeteering and Str/Int for Power Armor. I also got to avoid the rather annoying power generating power from PA by taking the Gadgeteering gun.

I got up to level 9 and well into the Burning Sands area. With powers and talents, etc. I now have 2 attacks from Gadgets, I've made the gadgeteering energy builder a cone, taken another attack from PA and taken the PA invulnerability power. I'm looking forward to my next power pick so I can take some more self buff powers (PA or Gadgeteering, we shall see, but the Gadget self-heal is VERY tempting!). I feel pretty good with the attacks I have until some of the really big ones open up later.

I also, for the first time, altered my character's role. We'll see how making him more aggressive will affect my game experience!

If you haven't already, check out the game!

Champions Online

So, I'm playing Champions Online, a new super hero MMO that my good friend Jon is on the Dev team for. I want to love this game, but I'm having so many computer problems from it that it's currently unplayable. I'm going to roll back my video drivers and I have some new memory on the way. *JOY*

We shall see!

Updates

Well, once again months and months have elapsed. Yup, I'm a baaaaaad blogger!

I posted elsewhere about the death of Ted Kennedy, a sad day for America.

And, for the record, if you honestly, truly oppose health care reform, please reconsider, you or your family may have no other option in the future. I fear for my son with his CF, if I ever lose my insurance, or he's out on his own his basic maintenance medication alone, never mind doctor visits every 3 months, therapy and testing . . .just to try and keep him at a baseline of good health, costs thousands of dollars a month. NO ONE should have to worry about affording to keep themselves or their family alive.

In other news: I don't want to hear the right wing lies, so if you're even thinking about posting them here: Fuck you.

Wow!

It's certainly been a long time since I posted here!

I note that my last post here was kind of a downer, so here area few updates:
-Quinn is doing great in kindergarten, and has been on more meds than I like, but fewer than I feared.

-Spencer is 11 now and truly becoming a great young man.

-We got a dog, Kirby, and a week later took him back to the breeder. Turns out we're NOT dog people.

-We acquired another new cat, Eartha Kitt(en). And will problably be getting here a friend this weekend. That'll bring us to 4 cats. Yup, we're THAT family now.

-I've levelled a Villain to 50, Boothill Preacher my Fire/Kin Corr, and I've started playing the VEATs. Fun!

-I'm getting ready to run a campaign for the Tuesday night group, fun!

-The Watchmen movie comes out next week . .WOOT!

Maybe I'll post again with more stuff soon!

Something Sucky

Some of you may or may not know that my youngest son has Cystic Fibrosis. While this is generally not a big deal for him (he has few symptoms generally), but he's almost ready to go to school. In fact he started Camp Kindergarten this summer. This is generally great, but he's gotten so many contact illnesses in the last year that he's almost contantly on antibiotics of one sort or another.

Life never being simple he also has Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. Also not something that generally is a problem for him, but when he gets sick, particularly feverish, his JRA acts up and keeps him in severe pain.

He's getting so big, and is looking forward to being a big school kid, but I worry sooo much about his health. *sigh* Who knew parenting could be so painful!

Shifting Aim

Well,
I've set up a seperate blog to discuss plots for RPGs based on headlines from the new. You can see it here: Truth Is Stranger Than . . . .

While I may discuss game related stuff here, I'm shifting my aim on THIS blog to be a more general journal.

Things I'll be discussing:
-Politics
-Writing
-Photography
-Anything else I get a fancy to discuss.

If anyone is left reading, well, welcome to the strangeness that is my life!
